Bike Team

The team's primary goal is to provide Emergency Medical coverage during public events and in places where emergency responders would have limited access. The team has also shown to be an effective way to promote safe bicycle riding and injury prevention to the public.

Each member must attend a bicycle training class which covers subjects ranging from riding in traffic to slow speed techniques. Regular training rides are also required to insure that members have the fitness and endurance for this type of duty.

When the Bike Team is deployed to an event or other situation, a minimum of one Advanced Life Support provider and one Basic Life Support provider form the unit. The normal duty shift could last 2 to 6 hours with the occasional night operation. Examples of the types of events the Bike Team covers include, Anthem Days, Equestrian events, running marathons, and other large outdoor events as needed or requested.
