First Aid

The Daisy Mountain Fire Department is an official training center for the American Safety & Health Institute. The Daisy Mountain Fire Department currently offers Basic First Aid certification classes on an as requested basis. This course teaches individuals to effectively recognize the signs and symptoms of injuries and sudden illness and how to treat the emergencies in the critical first minutes until emergency medical services personnel arrive. 

Topics covered include: emergency response, bleeding, shock and soft tissue injuries, bone, joint and muscle injuries, sudden illness, heat and cold related illness and injury.

The intended audience is persons assigned to respond to emergencies in the workplace or community and those wishing to be prepared for everyday accidents.

The objective of this course is to familiarize the individual with the principles of first aid. This course is designed to prepare a person to recognize an emergency and to follow the “Assess, Alert, Attend” step plan of action for emergency care. The program will prepare participants to: Assess the scene and the victims, Alert Emergency Medical Services, Attend to the victim.
